Working out of Fort Worth, Texas, Sylvia Navarro, professionally known as Irlanya, seamlessly bridges distances to collaborate with clients, directors, artists, and musicians globally. Her nomadic spirit and deep connection to her craft allow her to transcend geographical boundaries, fostering vibrant creative dialogues wherever her work takes her.

After learning by ear through the Suzuki method at age six, she began classical piano studies with Robert Marullo, becoming one of the fortunate few to train under his guidance from age nine to eighteen in Connecticut. Marullo not only taught her technique and theory, but also nurtured her imagination, always encouraging her to improvise or play whatever she wanted after their lessons; an early invitation to explore creativity without boundaries. She later furthered her education at Fairfield University, drawn to its rigorous Jesuit foundation and a desire to go deeper into the kinds of questions she had always carried; about faith, meaning, and the stories we live by. There, she engaged more deeply with theology, philosophy, and literature, disciplines she had long been curious about, but now approached through a lens of reflection, study, and spiritual formation. This would go on to influence the depth and purpose of her creative work.

Under her label Pier Glass Music, Irlanya embodies the roles of composer, producer, and singer-songwriter, crafting intricate instrumentals and evocative vocal compositions. She is known for individually recording and layering her vocals over 300 times, mixing as she goes to bring each track a unique flair and meticulous detail.

Having contributed to many projects as a musician and co-composer under Bleeding Fingers Music, including notable works such as Earth At Night In Color (Apple TV+), and Alien Worlds (Netflix), and Pre-Historic Planet (Apple TV+) Irlanya brings a wealth of experience and musical diversity to her creations.

Recently, she collaborated with producer Jordan Suckley on the track “Ways of the World,” a project that earned the trust and support of Blackhole Recordings, the Dutch label founded by Tiësto and Arny Bink in 1997. This track showcased her as both a versatile writer and soloist, underscoring her ability to thrive in a digital landscape where creativity knows no borders.

Beyond her collaborative spirit, she has been commissioned to score commercials, and frequently engages in vocal improvisation, donning different creative hats.

Her instrumental compositions, previously released under her birth name, have been featured on platforms such as the History Channel, BBC, Max, Netflix, Apple TV, and Disney+ through Extreme Music and Universal Production Music, showcasing her significant contribution to a wide range of media.

In 2022, Irlanya embarked on a transformative journey, naturally gravitating toward the enigmatic art of vocal storytelling. Inspired by her faith and the beauty of nature, she began shaping a sound that blends ethereal textures with cinematic narratives, creating music that can leave a lasting impression.
